GUEST ARTIST FEATURE: Nicole Picadura

Hello everyone! This is Nicole and I am beyond excited to be sharing a project with you using some of my favorite stamps from Wplus9's May 2017 release. As soon as the sneak peeks came out last month, I knew the Modern Anemones and the Modern Peonies would be my go-to stamps. With delicate lines and details images, anyone can create sophisticated cards easily using them!

You can see how this card comes to life with just a few steps in the video tutorial below. They are easy to follow, so I hope you enjoy watching it and creating along with me.

Watercolored looks can be achieved in many ways using various mediums that you already have. Besides traditional watercolor tubes/pans, you can use your water based inks, water markers, and even with spray mists! Wplus9 carries a beautiful range of mists so I chose 2 colors to color in the stamps images, Sweet Nectar and Sweet Gelato.

Just like any other watercolor mediums, you can add as little pigment as you want to build the color intensity you are looking for. Remember, watercolor images always tend to dry softer than they look when wet. So make sure to give each layer some time to dry and add more color until you get the results you are happy with.

I chose the "white embossing on white paper" look for today's card, as the heat embossing would be a perfect one to capture those beautiful images from the stamp sets. After watercoloring the images, cut them out with the coordinating dies to create a floral arrangement on your card. Sentiments used here are also from both stamp sets, and as a finishing touch, I added a few clear droplets between flower layers. These all help the floral arrangement to easily pop and grab anyone's attention.

I hope you enjoyed the card shared today. Thank you so much for joining me and thank you, Dawn, for inviting me to hang out here at the Wplus9 blog!

GUEST ARTIST FEATURE: Wanda Guess

Hi there! It’s Wanda Guess, and I am super happy to be here as a guest designer today! I have been a WPlus9 fan for such a long time! Their stamps bring me lots of joy in my craft studio and hours of creative fun. I am also a huge fan of Dawn and her entire creative team. I am always delighted when I get to stamp with them. For my card today I chose to work with the gorgeous Modern Peonies stamp set and the Hand Lettered Hello stamp set. I think they work so nicely together!

I started my card with a crisp white A2 card base folded at the top. I die cut a smaller white rectangle for the focal point and layered pretty lime green cardstock around it. This gave me my foundation of the card. All of the coloring for today was done with Zig Clean Color Brush Markers in pretty shades of pink and green for summer.

I stamped and die cut three big peonies, three small peonies and a bunch of leaves. The matching dies for this set cut like a dream. When I’m making an arrangement like this I always stamp and cut out lots of images to play with - so I can get it just the way I want it to look. I ended up coloring just some of the images, and left the rest black and white and graphic. I love this look!

I stamped the small ‘beautiful’ sentiment in the lower right corner of the white layer, and then glued on the ‘hello’ die with a glue pen, using my tweezers. I did this first so I would know where to place the flowers. SO crisp with that pop of black in the gorgeous font!

I used foam tape to place the top layers of flowers and leaves. The bottom flowers and leaves were attached with tape runner adhesive. I like the difference in dimension with the layers. I did a very loose watercolor wash with the Zig Markers, a tiny paintbrush and water. I used two shades of green and two shades of pink on the images. You could use any colors, though! I think this would be very pretty in red too!

I hope you all have a wonderful, beautiful and creative day! Thanks to the lovely ladies at WPlus9 for having me! It’s been my pleasure to share with you!

Happy Birds with Yana

Hello friends! This is Yana and I hope you are having a fabulous weekend!

I love to create my own patterns using stamps and I’ve been wanting to stamp a pattern using the images from the Happy Birds stamp set. I finally have stamped one and I love the way it turned out.

I mounted 3 of the 4 birds (I didn’t use one with the spread out wings) onto a long clear block and stamped repeatedly onto a white cardstock panel using black ink. You can stamp these one by one, but it saves a lot of time when stamping multiples at a time.

This stamp set has additional dashed and dotted details that can be stamped onto the birds bellies, so I stamped those onto some of my images. At this point my pattern was looking black and white and, truth be told, rather boring.

I didn’t want to do a lot of Copic coloring, so I looked for a simpler and faster way to color the bodies of these birds. Most of them have a perfectly round body, so using a circle stamp to add color did the trick. After looking through my stash I came across a ball from the Big Deal stamp set and used the back side (the flat side) to add ink onto most of my birds. I went with Last Leaf, Falling For Blue and Ocean Drive ink colors. To add color to the non-round bird I made a mask and stamped just the belly using Wild Mango.

I still had a lot of white left on my pattern, so I used Copic markers to color in bird’s tails and feathers on their heads. I didn’t do any shading, just added a flat layer of color. I also used Copics to add shading around my images and create the illusion of dimension. I outlined each bird with C3 and blended it out using C1 and the Colorless Blender markers.

I adhered my panel onto an A2 top folding card base and added a sentiment that reads “I Hope This Puts A Big Smile On Your Face”. At this point I also adhered googly eyes onto some images (this is how I envisioned these birds right from the start) and used Nuvo Drops in white and a white gel pen to color some of the black stamped dots on bird’s bellies white.

Have fun stamping!

Best Friend Ever With Kara

It's officially summer here in the US and I couldn't be happier! I had to pull out my Friends for All Seasons: Summer set to celebrate. I love making cards to send to friends 'Just Because' and this sentiment is perfect for that.

I started by using the three speech bubble stamps in the set to create a diagonal background. I drew one diagonal pencil line from corner to corner to get my pattern started. I stamped the speech bubbles alternating between Lake House, Nautical Navy, and Black PURE COLOR Dye Ink. I stamped and die cut about ten little bones to fill in the empty speech bubbles. I adhered them with dimensional adhesive and trimmed them anywhere they hung over the edge of the stamped panel.

I used the large Bold Banner Die to anchor my sentiment and main focal image. With such a busy background I love to leave stamped lined images uncolored. All that blue in the design needed a little pop of red. A die cut and Copic colored (R29) heart does the trick!

Now I just need a few more and I'm all set! Thanks so much for stopping by. See you again soon for July Release Week!
